Roecroft Lower School

Admissions 2025-26

Admissions Policy 2024-25
Admissions Policy 2025-26

Our published admission number for Reception children is 90 pupils, meaning in the September intake of Reception pupils we will accept no more than 90 pupils on roll.

As a Community School we are subject to the local authority admission procedures that are coordinated by Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire Admission forums as follows. The local authority manages all school admissions and any application for a place at the school regardless of whether this is for a pupil new to school or a pupil transferring from a another school and you should contact them on 0300 300 8037.

From September 2024 Central Bedfordshire will be opening the 2025 rounds.  If your child was born between 01/09/2020 and 31/08/2021 you will need to apply for your child's first school place before the 15th January 2025.

Click here to take you to the Central Bedfordshire Schools Admission Page

NOTE: The application deadline is 15 January 2025

All applications received after 15 January 2025 will be classed as late and not processed until the late allocation round, which will take place after the national offer day for on time applications. Submitting a late application significantly reduces a child’s chance of an offer of a place at one of their preferred schools.

Please note there is no automatic transfer from Nursery to Reception Year so parents must apply to their home local authority.

September 2024 - Information and Application Forms available to Parents. Parents are encouraged to complete online.

15th January 2025 - Deadline for return of Application Forms

16th April 2025 - Notification of application requests (on time applications)
3rd June 2025 - Notification of application requests (late or changed applications)

If you would like further information on school admissions and appeals please visit the Central Bedfordshire website  School Admissions.

Please be aware that Roecroft Lower School only has one intake a year for first admissions which is in September.

If you are interested in a nursery place please contact Pippin Pre School on 01462 834897 or visit their website on www.pippinpre-school.org.

Arrangements for the admission of pupils with disabilities

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 defines a disabled person as one who has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on a persons’ ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. Most children with Special Needs will not be disabled within the meaning of the Act.

The admission of pupils with disabilities is considered in the first instance in the same way as non-disabled pupils. Further considerations are made in the light of need and accessibility. It is the School Governors’ Policy to accommodate pupils with disabilities should parents wish their child to attend the school.  Steps are taken to prevent any pupils being treated less favourably than other pupils. In practice we ensure that classroom and extra-curricular activities encourage the participation of all pupils, including those categorised as having Special Educational Needs. Staff organise human and physical resources within the school to increase access to learning and participation by all pupils. The School strives to ensure that whatever the abilities and needs of members of the school community, everyone is equally valued and treats one another with respect under the Equality Act 2010.
