Miss Aris & Miss Wood - Year 4
Hello, we are Miss. Aris and Miss. Wood and we are extremely excited to be the teachers of Hawk Class. We are lucky to have the wonderful Miss Sumal to support us in our learning too! You will find the pupils of Hawk class working very hard on the top floor of the school in our bright, spacious and well-equipped classroom – the perfect learning environment!
We participate in different topics in our humanities subjects throughout the year, including investigating the Romans and studying local and international Geography including a project on North America.
Our aim is for the children to be ready to move on to Middle School with confidence and happy in the knowledge that they are well prepared for the next big step in their education.
Year Four pupils are let in through the double doors on the path between the two playgrounds. This is also where children leave from at the end of the day.
The school day for Hawk Class starts at 9.00am and ends at 3.45pm
For morning break Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack to have at break time. This could be fruit, vegetables, rice cakes or a small sandwich.
Milk is available for children to drink at break time if paid for by the parents or carers – please contact the office for more information

Phonics and Spelling Programme
In Key Stage 2 we continue with the Read Write Inc. phonics and spelling programme.
A spelling homework sheet is given out every Friday, the children should work on the spelling pattern at home daily alongside the learning that takes place each day in school.
The spelling test will take place every Friday. Children's results will be sent home the following week.
Please ensure your child has warm clothing to wear outside, including trainers as we use the field all year round.
Indoor PE kit: A white round necked t-shirt, black shorts (Although we are currently not doing indoor PE due to COVID-19, this should still be in school)
Outdoor PE kit: A white round necked t-shirt, black jogging bottoms, a warm black zip up tracksuit top, trainers and a separate pair of socks (if wearing tights).
All long hair should be tied back for PE lessons and earrings should be removed or covered with micropore tape if recently pierced.
Children’s spellings should be practised daily alongside children using Doodle Maths and Times Tables Rockstars.
Children are expected to be reading frequently throughout the week at home to an adult. Please sign their reading record when reading has been completed so their book can be changed. Books will be changed on a Thursday in Year 4.
Reading and Library Books
In Year 4, if the children are on scheme, their books will be changed on a Thursday.
When your child is ready to change their book please ensure you have signed their reading record and say they have finished their book.
Due to COVID-19 we are currently not visiting the library but the children will still be able to bring home reading books from the classroom and our Year 4 area.
